Our Rudbeckia hirta Cappuccino has become a real star! Following Fleuroselect trials of 47 seed-raised varieties and 30 vegetatively propagated Rudbeckia varieties at both the RHS garden Hyde Hall and RHS garden Harlow Carr, both independent panels of judges have conferred a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit on this variety.
The conclusion of the jury read as follows: “The large copper bronze flowers were held on sturdy plants giving a superb display”.
In addition to the A.G.M. award, the variety was also placed 1st in the People’s choice contest held at Hyde Hall over the summer where the public could vote for their favourite Rudbeckia.
Rudbeckia Cappuccino stands out for its very large, bicolor, red-and-yellow flowers, up to 10 cm in diameter, and for its lush foliage that creates a beautiful contrast. It is a wonderful addition to flowerbeds and other landscaping elements as it features a long-lasting flowering period and a good resistance to heat!
It is of course also a Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner! This was already quite a few years ago, but the variety really shows staying power! Don’t hesitate, just ask for Cappuccino!
